Brampton Heavy Equipment Training School - HEO or likewise known as the heavy equipment operator courses would provide you with the skills and knowledge required to be able to enter the workforce as an entry level heavy equipment operator. In this 12 week course together with a practicum, you would focus on jobsite fundamentals such as: health, environmental and safety training and awareness, machinery operation and maintenance, and application of earth moving techniques in hands-on conditions.
Operator training will help people work with their chosen heavy machinery like for instance a compactor, grader, loader, a dozer and an excavator. The required skills which an operator would require to work with heavy machines includes: excellent oral communication skills, excellent problem solving skills, physical strength and stamina, excellent spatial ability and good vision, the ability to work alone or well with others in a team and good manual dexterity along with excellent eye-hand coordination.
Some technical skills are also essential. These are having a being able to operate equipment and power tools, general mechanical ability, knowledge of safe working methods, the ability to follow technical specifications, grade plans and read instructions, the ability to make mathematical calculations and basic measurements, and the ability to perform basic maintenance and mechanical repairs.
